Pediatrics Unlimited had a wet and wild week August 25-29, 2014. Water Week was so much fun this year! We had wading pools, targets, water guns, bubbles, and many more activities to enjoy during some of the last of our hot, summer days.
We hope that everyone has a great school year!
Pediatrics Unlimited went to the Greenville Zoo on Saturday, July 19, 2014. It was a rainy and cool summer day but we all had a great time! We had brunch, crafts, and face painting before we went in to the zoo.
We can't wait for Zoo Day next year!
May is Better Speech and Hearing Month. Our fabulous team of Speech Language Pathologists planned lots of fun activities for this month to show how "Our Speech & Language Is Blooming". We planted flowers and watched them grow as well as had lots of garden themed activities throughout the month of May.
April is Occupational Therapy Month. To celebrate, our Occupational Therapy team decided to show us how "OT Helps Us Grow". At the beginning of the month, caterpillars were ordered and we have been able to watch them grow from fuzzy caterpillars into beautiful butterflies. There have been many activities centered around this theme as well as information on the stages of how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.
All of our kids have loved getting to check in on the caterpillars/butterflies every week and are going to be sad to see them go!
Ms. Amy recently attended a Pediatric Yoga course where she learned how beneficial yoga can be as a part of therapy. Occupational therapists can use yoga to improve posture and strength for handwriting, centering strategies for attention, practicing with peers for socialization, and sensory integration. Physical therapists can incorporate yoga into therapy to improve strength and flexibility for ease of mobility and breath support for endurance. Even speech language pathologists can use yoga in their therapy to improve breath support for speech, postural alignment, and socialization.
Please ask any of our therapists about how yoga therapy could be a beneficial part of your child's current therapy plan. Namaste!
As the evenings get darker and the chill of winter slides through the air, we snuggle up closer together with cups of hot cocoa and wonder, "Where in the world did the summer weather season go?!"
The fall season arrived and off we bustled our children into school. Pediatrics Unlimited was sure busy! We helped provide information for back to school for proper backpack wear and helped coordinate schedule changes for afternoon appointments. We also were proud to give away TWO backpacks FULL of school supplies to two very lucky children.
As the autumn cooled off, we welcomed the falling leaves and Halloween. We had a Team Spirit Day in October and dressed in our favorite team shirts. Both of our clinics surprised our patients by having a Dr. Seuss theme week! Truffala trees splashed color in our hallways! The staff was replaced with Sneetches, Cindy Lou Who, Things 1 and 2, Yertle the Turtle and many more creative characters!
This fall season, Pediatrics Unlimited was very proud to welcome in several new staff members: Kristen Galloway, PT at our Greenville clinic; Meghan Johnson, SLP at our Greenville clinic; Rachel Setzer, SLP at our Spartanburg clinic; Mary Beth Sharp, PT transitioned from our Greenville clinic to our Spartanburg clinic; and Ali George, SLP transitioned to full time in our Greenville clinic. We also helped support our therapists and expanded our knowledge and expertise to treat our children better. Ms. Mary Beth (PT) attended a kinesiotaping course, Ms. Kathy (OT) attended a brachial plexus course, and Ms. Sarah (OT) became trained in both Therapeutic Listening and Handwriting without Tears.
Pediatrics Unlimited will celebrate its 15th birthday in March! Keep checking in for the festivities that are sure to come.
Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
It sure has been a wet summer here at Pediatrics Unlimited but we have found many fun ways to get us through these warm, wet days! On June 8th, Pediatrics Unlimited went to the zoo. We all had a great time while we were there with a potluck lunch, fun activities, and lots of animals to see.
Pediatrics Unlimited celebrated its 2nd annual Water Week August 5th through 9th. When it wasn't raining, we played in a wading pool, had water gun fights and target practice, water color painting, bubble blowing, and target practice with water balls.
Our craft boards in both clinics focused on water creatures. Lots of creativity and imagination went into both of them. Be sure to check out your children's artwork when you are in the clinics.
Just a reminder, Pediatrics Unlimited will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, for Labor Day. Please see any of our office staff if you are interested in rescheduling your child's appointment(s).
We hope you have a GREAT rest of the summer and a good beginning to the school year!
Things have definitely been hopping here at Pediatrics Unlimited this spring. Pediatrics Unlimited celebrated its 14th Birthday in March! Both the children and the staff enjoyed making birthday hats and birthday cards.
Our wonderful OTs celebrated Occupational Therapy Month in April by educating the rest of the staff on various OT strategies, including feeding and sensory integration techniques.
May is Better Speech and Hearing Month! Check out our bulletin boards in both clinics to learn more about speech/language therapy and to also see developmental milestones for children.
Pediatrics Unlimited will be going to the zoo on June 8th! It will be a day for patients and their families to come enjoy the park, eat a great lunch, and go to the zoo with the Pediatrics Unlimited staff. There will also be crafts and zoo-themed games. Tickets can be purchased at both clinics. Deadline for purchasing tickets is June 7th. For more information on this fun day, please contact either of our clinics.
We would like to give a great big WELCOME to Ms. Lisa. She is a Physical Therapist and also the new Clinical Supervisor in our Greenville clinic. Be sure to stop by and say "Hi!" to her.
Just a reminder, Pediatrics Unlimited will be closed for Memorial Day on May 27th, for Independence Day on July 4th, and for Labor Day on September 2nd. We hope that you all enjoy this time with your friends and family!
