Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy addresses delays and disorders that affect the fine motor control that is needed for activities such as picking up small objects, feeding yourself, hand-eye coordination, and copying and tracing designs and letters. It can also involve sensory integration.
Occupational therapists assist children in learning life skills. These life skills can include self-help skills (feeding, bathing, and dressing), fine motor skills (hand skills and dexterity), social skills, neuromotor development, and sensory integration. They can also address difficulties with feeding and/or oral motor skills.
Our occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants have passed a National Examination and are licensed in the state of South Carolina. We have occupational therapists trained in sensory integration, Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening, S.O.S. Feeding Therapy, SaeBo Flex, Therapressure Protocol, NDT, Handwriting without Tears, and Alert Program for Self-Regulation.
If your child is not meeting developmental milestones for fine motor skills, self-help skills, and/or has difficulties with sensory integration, he/she may benefit from an Occupational Therapy evaluation. Newborn feeding evaluations for breast and bottle feeding challenges are also available. To schedule an appointment, please call either our Spartanburg clinic at 864-595-4225 or our Greenville clinic 864-627-0009.
